The Night Auditor job description is two-fold. The employee will perform both accounting and front desk functions.The night audit consists of balancing the transactions that occurred during the day. One account that needs to be reconciled is Accounts Receivable. All charges incurred by the Gift Shop, Telephone, Laundry and Food Services, along with room rate and tax must be charged to the guests. Guest bills need to be verified and delivered to rooms before check out. Credit card batches need to be analyzed.
The other function of the night auditor job is as receptionist. This includes booking room reservations, handling cash, answering the phone, checking guests in and out, greeting guests and solving problems.
This work requires long overnight hours, standing, and lifting up to 30 pounds. A typical night shift would be 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m and might include weekend jobs and holidays.
