Fire fighter:
Fire fighters can be scheduled for day or night shifts by different departments. They can also be asked to work long periods of 24 to 28 hours at one stretch. In order to be a fire fighter you will have to have at least a high school diploma in place. The fire department hires fire fighters and once you are selected, the fire department offers extensive training.
Security Guard:
A security guard is required at most establishments such as apartment complexes, warehouses, casinos and others. The duty of a security guard is to protect the establishment he is in charge of. There are a number of security firms that hire security guards to work the 3rd shift. For this job, while a high school diploma is sufficient for entry level jobs, senior positions might require a post secondary education.
Customer service executive:
A customer service executive could also work night shifts especially if the company has a worldwide clientele to whom it offers 24/7 support. As an executive you will be trained in attending to customer queries or concerns and help troubleshoot their issues. Usually companies outsource their customer support to various outsourcing companies which in turn hire customer service executives.
Baggage handler:
Baggage handlers work in the airline industry and the main role of a baggage handler is to unload and load passengers bags and cart these bags to and from the terminal to their destination. In case you are keen on entering the airline industry this is a good entry level role.
Nurses:
Nurses along with other medical experts and specialists work the 3rd shift as people dont always fall sick between 9.00am to 5.00pm. The night shift nurses are responsible to ensure that the patients in the hospital either under observation or in recovery or to be operated have had their medicines, their checkups and more on time. Most of the reputed hospitals recruit nurses to work in the third shift and the allocation of the shits are done on a rotational basis.
